Zumbahua is the name of a small village in the Ecuadorian Andes. It's located at around 4000m, near the Quilotoa volcano.

This is a reportage on Zumbahua Hospital's activities.
Every day, doctors and nurses reach on foot very remote villages to deliver medicines to chronic patients, to check the growth of children, to give consultations to those too old or weak to go to the hospital.

The wind at this altitude is freezing all year round. The earth is poor and dry. Life is extremely harsh. Still, despite adversity and illness, one will find there a people who manages to keep its culture, beliefs and dignity.
